Flew into Jeju-si (Jeju city) from Seoul, after wrapping things up in Seoul. This involved packing and cleaning the apartment, and organizing all of the junk I'd accumulated over 3 years into things to throw away, things to give away, things to send home, and things necessary for the next 2 months. We ended up missing our flight, but got on one for 220 and were in Jeju, a small volcanic island south of the Korean peninsula by 315. Quite an interesting little plane, with the cabin actually below the wings, each of which had a large prop engine. After some screwing around with buses, we made it to Seogwipo city on the south of the island and crashed there for the night. Eun-kyeong was ill and coughing all night, so we decided not to do the 10-hour hike up Hala-san (Hala Mountain, the peak of the volcano that is jeju) and instead head for the coast and a nearby island called U-do after getting some real medicine. U-do was fantastic, and much more manageable since we didn't have a car. Almost all of the little hotels are right on the beach, which is exactly what we wanted, and our place let us borrow bikes for free so we could check out the island ourselves. After a 12 hour recovery sleep there, we hopped back across to Seongsan harbour on Jeju to climb the volcanic crater in Seongsan sunrise park on Thursday. It's famous for the eponymous sunrises, but was still pretty scenic about 9 hours after the fact. On the ferry back to U-do we bumped into the proprietor of our hotel and he gave us a little tour of the island, including Gorilla Rock (see the pictures) and "Lighthouse park". Friday morning was just getting up and heading back to Seoul, where I had to run a couple of more errands to get ready to leave.

I'll upload select pics to this blog later, to see all check here:
